It was a hard choice to make this week as Mikel Obi scored his first league goal for Chelsea after seven years and Sone Aluko also scored his first goal in the English Premier League but Aluko narrowly takes this week's plaudit because he created and scored a goal, which turned out to be the winner away from home.
The 24-year-old left-footer scored the winner last Saturday as Hull City Tigers shocked Newcastle at home. The goal was a beautifully crafted side-footed volley that went in off Tim Krul's left hand post. The goal turned out to be the winner and will surely be a contender for Goal of the Season.
Aluko is making a statement to the Super Eagles that he can do the business for his club. He also created the pass for the equalising goal for Robert Brady in the 26th minute.

Congratulations to Sone Aluko Goal.com's Nigeria Player of the Week winner!

The Shortlist
Mikel Obi - Chelsea FC

Many things have been said and written about Mikel Obi as a Chelsea player in the last seven years but goal scoring has never been part of that discourse.
The Nigerian changed all that last Saturday when he scored Chelsea's second goal against Fulham at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder had promised at the start of the season that he will be looking to score and that he has done in the fifth week.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni  - Guangzhou R&F

The former Super Eagles striker scored a hat-trick for Chinese side, Guangzhou R&F but still ended up losing 5-3.
The 30-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 24 league appearances - not bad for a striker who is thought to be over the hill.
Uche Ihuarulam - Bayelsa FC

Uche Ihuarulam gets this mention for scoring the lone goal in Bayelsa United's 1-0 win over Enyimba which took his side to the top of the league table with five matches until the end of the season.
