Decision Time For The NFF

Keshi
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will decide the future of the head coach of the national team during its executive committee meeting on Tuesday.
Stephen Keshi’s contract as Nigeria coach ran out after the 2014 Fifa World Cup and he was subsequently offered a new contract by the NFF this month.
The coach rejected the offer with his spokesman, Emma Addo declaring that Keshi was worth more than he was offered by the NFF.
“Keshi is bigger than N10 million. He is not a N5 million or N10 million coach. A club in Angola is ready to offer him N18 (about $111,000 USD) million a month,” Ado said.
“It has to be a give-and-take arrangement, we would not sign any contract that does not take care of his interest.
“I want to stress that he (Keshi) will not be intimidated or blackmailed into accepting the contract as proposed by the federation,” Addo said.
The NFF insists it cannot afford what Keshi is demanding with vice president of the federation, Mike Umeh exclusively revealing to supersport.com that the issue will be comprehensively dealt with during Tuesday’s meeting.
“We will discuss that at the meeting and try to explain with him that we don’t have the kind of money he’s demanding,” Umeh said.
It has been speculated that the NFF could look to appoint a caretaker coach from its technical committee to prosecute Nigeria’s upcoming 2015 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Congo should they fail to reach an agreement with Keshi.
Umeh however refused to be drawn on making a definite statement on the issue.
“Let’s not think about that (failure of both parties to reach an agreement) for now. The truth is no one can make a unilateral agreement on such an issue.
“We will decide as a board but hopefully, things will be sorted out tomorrow,” he said.
