Keshi Warns Against booing

Angry Fan
Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi says Nigerian fans should forget about watching the Super Eagles at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) if they boo the players against Sudan in Abuja today.
The Super Eagles were beaten 1-0 by the Falcons of Jediane in the reverse fixture in Khartoum last Saturday but have a chance to exact instant revenge on the Sudanese at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Players of the Super Eagles were booed and pelted with missiles upon their arrival in Abuja from Khartoum by angry Nigerian fans, disappointed by the team’s display in Sudan.
Keshi says a similar display by the fans during Wednesday’s game will ultimately see Nigeria kiss the Afcon 2015 qualifying ticket goodbye.
“If the fans boo the players (on Wednesday) during the game, they should just forget about the Nations Cup ticket because there is no way the boys will give their best in such an atmosphere,” Keshi told supersport.com.
The former Mali and Togo trainer said he understands the sentiments of the Nigerian fans but advises them to get behind their side during Wednesday’s game.
“I know the fans are not happy because of the recent results of the team but right now, they should get behind the team and not boo the boys.
“They must understand that what these kids need right now is encouragement. The fans must show them love and the boys will react in the right way.
“It does not matter whether the coach is Stephen Keshi or somebody else. This is our country and we must support this team.
“Even if I am not the coach, Nigeria will play at the Nations Cup so everyone that comes into that stadium (on Wednesday) must support the team,” he said.
Nigeria currently sit bottom of Group A of 2015 Afcon qualifying with a solitary point from three games.
