Naby Keita staying

LIVERPOOL look to have given up on signing RB Leipzig star Naby Keita – but could be back in for him in 12 months’ time.

The Bundesliga side have told Sky Sports News their midfielder is not for sale this summer. The Merseysiders have had three bids of up to £67million rejected for the Guinea international, who has told Leipzig he wants to move to Anfield in this transfer window.
The German side’s position has not moved all summer and unless there is a serious change of heart, Liverpool will have to wait another year to get their man.
Leipzig sporting director Ralph Rangnick has insisted none of their star players will be sold and the club will try and persuade the midfielder to sign a new contract.
One reason why the Bundesliga side could be offering Keita a new deal is his release clause is £48million next summer.
Liverpool will meet that figure with ease after having significantly higher bids snubbed by Leipzig, so the Germans could try to change that.
Jurgen Klopp will be frustrated by the situation as he earmarked the 22-year-old as the man to bolster his midfield options this season.
