JOACHIM LOW and captain Mats Hummels have blasted Germany’s supporters after Nazi-era chants marred their World Cup qualifier in Prague.
Prior to the clash on Friday, a section of the travelling fans chanted and whistled during a minute’s silence and targeted the hosts’ national anthem. Germany’s players refused to applaud their followers after their 2-1 victory in Group C.
Skipper Hummels instructed his team-mates to head straight for the dressing-room.
And he branded those responsible as “hooligans”.
Now German boss Low has also rounded on the culprits ahead of the upcoming qualifier with Norway.
The 57-year-old called the offenders an “embarrassment” and says he was “disgusted” by their actions.
He said: “I’m extremely disappointed about what happened during the minute’s silence. “Those are not our fans.
“I’m disgusted that these so-called fans embarrassed our country on an international stage.
“As a team we want to stand for good values and a tolerant, open-minded Germany.” Low and his side welcome the Norwegians to Stuttgart on Monday.
They currently sit five points clear at the summit of their group and can all but seal their place at Russia 2018 with victory.
