Chelsea players text ex-No2 Steve Holland due to their poor relationship with Antonio Conte

CHELSEA players have been texting former No 2 Steve Holland because of their poor relationship with Antonio Conte.
The Blues squad are missing the influence of Holland, who left in the summer to be England boss Gareth Southgate’s full-time assistant. And SunSport understands that Chelsea stars have sent him messages as well as discussing how much they miss the man who was their go-between to Conte.
In the last four games, the Blues have lost to Manchester City and Crystal Palace before a home draw with Roma.
They recovered from 2-1 down to beat Watford 4-2 on Saturday to lift some pressure off Conte.
But players have blamed fatigue and a spate of muscle injuries to, among others N’Golo Kante, Victor Moses and Alvaro Morata, on Conte’s intense training regime. The added demands of Champions League football this season has meant a big reduction in time off as well.
Holland was a confidante of the players having been with the first-team squad since 2011. He was someone the players felt understood their gripes.
Conte appointed Davide Mazzotta in Holland’s place but neither he or any other member of the staff have attempted to foster a relationship with the players like the one with Holland.
Despite a Prem title in his first season, Conte is under pressure with Chelsea trailing leaders Manchester City by nine points after eight games.
Conte, meanwhile, insists he is unfazed by speculation over his future. He said after beating Watford: “Honestly, I am not worried, I am very honest. I don’t feel this type of pressure.”
And keeper Thibaut Courtois told the Standard: “We are ready to fight for the coach.
"I remember what happened two years ago under Jose Mourinho and things started to be said, there were stories about the dressing room without knowing what was happening.
