Adam Lallana is on course to make his long-awaited return for Liverpool against former club Southampton this weekend.
The 29-year-old has not played this season, having sustained a thigh injury against Atletico Madrid in pre-season, but played in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Reds' Melwood training ground on Tuesday. The England forward returned to training at the club's base in mid-October after a spell at the Aspire clinic in Qatar, where he met retiring former Spain and Barcelona star Xavi. Manager Jurgen Klopp, who was admitted to hospital after feeling unwell on Wednesday, will also hope to have another player available to face his former club Saints in Sadio Mane. Mane returned from a month out with injury against West Ham last time out but was released from the Senegal squad with a slight niggle earlier this week.
And Jordan Henderson has also resumed training after missing the 4-1 Hammers clash with a thigh injury.
Philippe Coutinho has already recovered from an adductor knock and is also set to star when Southampton - and Liverpool's summer target Virgil van Dijk - visit Anfield on Saturday.
