Celtic 1 Bayern Munich 2 match report: Javi Martinez left with blood pouring from his head after netting winner

IT was a Javi Halloween for Bayern Munich as they survived a fright at Celtic.
Callum McGregor thought he had given the home fans a night to savour when he levelled Kingsley Coman's opener.
Javi Martinez was left bloodied after nodding in the winner
But brave Javi Martinez headed home and was left with blood pouring with his eye as Bayern grabbed a winner to muted celebrations. The Spaniard got to feet after a minute or so and finished the game after being patched up by Bayern medics.
The result effectively ends Celtic's hopes of progressing, with Brendan Rodgers' men nine points behind Paris Saint-Germain and six behind BayernCeltic would have needed just a three-point swing to catch Bayern had they taken their chances against the German champions. James Forrest lifted the ball to the back post but Stuart Armstrong scuffed wide from under five yards out as a golden chances went begging early on. Moussa Dembele also went close after a mazy run during the first half. But the Hoops shot themselves in the foot when Dedryck Boyata let a kick from Bayern keeper Sven Ulreich bounce over his head. France international Coman kept his composure to slot home amid retreating defenders. Craig Gordon's appeals for a free-kick fell on deaf ears - despite Coman appearing to handle as he passed the Celtic keeper. Armstrong was denied after the break when Ulreich foiled his superb long-range effort.
James Rodriguez was then played in by Corentin Tolisso but could only fire at Gordon's legs.
McGregor then raised the roof after cooly slotting home after a superb lifted pass from Forrest.
But the hosts were level for just three minutes, with Martinez clashing heads with Nir Britton as he nodded in David Alaba's delivery.
