Tammy Abraham insists main aim remains to become Chelsea regular
TAMMY ABRAHAM insists that his main ambition is to become a first-team regular at Chelsea after earning his first senior England call-up.
The 20-year-old joined up with the Three Lions on Sunday after getting the nod from Gareth Southgate.
Despite playing in a struggling
Swansea
side, the hotshot has managed to bag four goals in 11
Premier League
matches for his loan club so far this season.
And that form has now been recognised at international level as he now prepares to face Germany and Brazil.
Abraham, who signed a new five-year deal with
Chelsea
in the summer, is determined to use his opportunity to impress Antonio Conte even more in order to help his long-term prospects at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "My main focus is Swansea but pushing on, my main target is to be in that
Chelsea
squad. "It's not going to be easy, you look at the players that are there, but you have to keep pushing and keep working as hard as you can.
"I want to show the world what I'm truly made of. "Of course it will be difficult, you're playing in one of the best leagues in the world."
Abraham burst onto the scene last season during a loan spell with Bristol City. He scored 26 goals in 48 matches for the Championship side to earn his chance in the Prem with the Swans.
And now he is relishing the challenge of player against better players, and his confidence has only been boosted by his new national boss. He added: "In the Premier League you're playing against some of the best defenders in the world but it's nice for me to have that competition.
"Gareth [Southgate] is a manager who likes to bring up young talent and that gives us a lot of confidence."
