The Barca squad celebrate the opening goal
West Ham target Willliam Carvalho was caught sleeping at the back, allowing Andre Gomes a golden opportunity to break the deadlock after 20 minutes.
But the Portuguese ace sent his shot just wide of the woodwork after a mesmerising run into the area.
Ernesto Valverde's men struggled in the opening stages, with Luis Suarez looking lost without striking partner Lionel Messi.
Sporting found their feet as the game progressed and the scores remained level until the interval. Paco Alcacer opened the scoring after 59 minutes with an excellent glancing header from the edge of the six-yard box.
Fans roared after Lionel Messi was introduced to replace Vidal after 61 minutes at the Nou Camp.
The Argentina striker made an instant impact on the game, with Barcelona looking more dangerous instantaneously.
Dost came close to finding the equaliser with seven minutes left on the clock, but his shot flies just yards over the crossbar. Jérémy Mathieu poked home an own goal in stoppage to put the game to bed at the Nou Camp.
The Spanish giants have now progressed into the last 16 after securing 14 points in the group stages.
