DIEGO MARADONA has take a huge swipe at Gareth Bale and told Real Madrid they should replace him with Kylian Mbappe.
Bale has missed the majority of this season through injury.
But he does have the chance to win over Maradona when Real take on Gremio in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
The match takes place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
In the meantime, Argentine legend Maradona told Spanish newspaper AS:
"I told Florentino [Perez, Real president] to sign Mbappe but he told me had Cristiano Ronaldo." When asked where signing Mbappe would leave Bale, Maradona said: "They should sell Bale, they should give him away.
"I expect Florentino wouldn't, but maybe he can do a deal, and let Bale go to AC Milan or Inter. "They have to sign Mbappe, for me he's the next big thing, he could overtake many players."
Wales international Bale cost Madrid a then world-record fee of £85.3m when he signed from Tottenham in 2013. But this season has been much of a write-off because of so many injury problems. Last May he just about made the Champions League final win over Juventus after another long spell in the treatment room. Overall Bale has suffered an incredible 26 injuries at Real, with 14 of them serious.
Mbappe has been going great guns with Paris Saint-Germain following his move from Monaco.
The youngster has formed a formidable strike threat with Neymar and Edinson Cavani.
