Man City 2 West Ham 1: David Silva bags another late winner

DAVID SILVA scored another last-gasp Manchester City goal to celebrate his new contract and keep the stream train running toward the Premier League title
Angelo Agbonna stunned the Etihad with a header that gave the Hammers a shock lead. But City ace Nicolas Otamendi  fired home like a striker before Silva stole the show.
David Silva scored another late Man City goal to snatch all three points
He volleyed in Kevin de Bruyne's cross with an improvised finish just when West Hamlooked set for a shock point. Yet for a fourth game in a row, City won with a goal in the final 10 minutes and go to Old Trafford next week with an eight point lead. City were looking for a 13th straight Premier League win and to restore their lead at the top to eight points. But it soon became clear Pep Guardiola's men would not have it their own way with a stretching Michail Antonio volleying wide early on. City were struggling to get into their stride although Silva's long range effort forced Adrian to tip over.
The visitors almost went ahead as Manuel Lanzini broke clear and thumped a shot which Ederson had to smuggle round the post. But there was nothing he could do as West Ham took the lead just before the interval as a corner was not cleared. Aaron Cresswell whipped over an inswinging cross and Ogbonna got ahead of Otamendi to head in.
City had been disappointing in the first half against the well-organised Hammers and were in grave danger of losing here for the first time in exactly a year. But they had more purpose after the restart and Kevin de Bruyne stung the fingertips of Adrian with a 20 yard free-kick. From the next attack sub Gabriel Jesus wriggled free down the right and his cross was forced in by Otamendi. From then it was a case of could West Ham hang on for a point and Adrian was determined to keep the home side out.
On loan City keeper Joe Hart- who has not eligible to play against his parent club - must be sweating on his Hammers place now. The Spaniard made superb saves to keep out Leroy Sane, Jesus and Raheem Sterling to keep David Moyes' men on level terms. City pushed so many forward that they were vulnerable on the break and Antonio broke clear to bring a flying save out of Ederson. However there was still time for City to win it as KdB clipped over a cross and there was Silva to volley in. West Ham keeper Adrian said: "At the end of the day it is a defeat, we don't get any points, so I cannot be happy, zero.
“But we troubled them, we defended well and played well on the counter attack, we had great chances to go 2-2 at the end but they are top players.
"Personally, this is my fifth season at West Ham. I do my best every time I play.
“I hope I have more chances to play from now. The competition is great, so for the manager the next game we don't know.”
Man City star Fabian Delph told Sky Sports: "It was difficult, teams seem to come here and get every man behind the ball, not interested in anything but parking the bus.
