Manuel Lanzini to be hit with retrospective FA ban
MANUEL LANZINI will be hit with a retrospective FA charge on Monday for diving.
The Argentine forward could become only the second Premier League player found guilty of committing a “successful deception of a match official”.
The 24-year-old faces the wrath of the independent regulatory commission — and a ban could mean he misses the

tomorrow plus Saturday’s league clash against Newcastle.
The FA will judge whether Lanzini conned referee Graham Scott into awarding him a penalty against Stoke on Saturday.
TV replays showed the playmaker was already on his day down and Potters defender Erik Pieters pulled away from the tackle. Mark Noble scored from the spot kick to
set up the 3-0 win.
West Ham boss
David Moyes
amazingly claimed that Lanzini hit the deck because he was “tired” having just run the length of the pitch. But Stoke manager
Mark Hughes
called out the player for diving.
Hughes claimed: “He has clearly dived and it’s disappointing the referee hasn’t seen it. “You need to get match-defining decisions correct — and he certainly didn’t get that one right.
“It was perfect for West Ham. But whether Lanzini is banned or not doesn’t help us one bit. The situation has gone.” Pieters, who was penalised for the challenge, said: “He came through and I made a tackle straight, not into him. He came into me rather than me into him.
"He had a bad touch. That’s why I made a straight tackle. Then he fell over me.
“I’ve seen a replay and I don’t think it’s a penalty, for sure.
“There is contact but that’s easy when he runs into you. But it doesn’t mean much for us now.”
Everton’s
Oumar Niasse became the first Prem player to get a two-match ban
from a retrospective FA charge for his penalty-winning dive against Crystal Palace last month.
