Paul Pogba out of Manchester derby after being sent off against Arsenal
PAUL POGBA will miss the Manchester derby after being sent off against Arsenal.
The French star was given his marching orders on 74 minutes for stamping on Hector Bellerin.
Now the
Red Devils
star will cop an automatic three-match ban from the FA following his transgression.
And that will mean he will miss next week's showdown with neighbours City.
His dismissal ensured that
United had to play the last 15 minutes of the clash at the Emirates
with just ten men.
Pogba looked completely bemused when referee Andre Marriner showed him red. And he did not restrain from showing his dissatisfaction as he clapped the official's decision while making his way off the pitch.
But the man in black waited for a few seconds before making his mind up after the challenge that saw Pogba's studs planted into the back of the Spaniard's leg. His loss will be a crushing blow for his boss Jose Mourinho.
The 3-1 victory over Arsenal took his side to within five points of leaders City, who play
West Ham
tomorrow. Pogba's loss earlier in the season courtesy of a hamstring injury was severely felt following his explosive start to the campaign.
He only returned to the side last month and marked his comeback with a goal against Newcastle. And he got himself an assist at the Emirates as he teed-up Jesse Lingard for the third.
Now Mourinho will be plotting all week to find a solution to fill the void against their bitter rivals.
