Pep Guardiola has ‘no words to describe’ Kevin De Bruyne after Tottenham thrashing
PEP GUARDIOLA has hailed Kevin De Bruyne with praise after Manchester City's explosive display against Tottenham.
The Belgian midfielder ran the show as his side triumphed 4-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.
De Bruyne scored in the Premier League fixture just moments
after surviving a horror stamp from Dele Alli
.
He put the game to bed with yet another sublime left-footed strike finish that left Hugo Lloris helpless between the sticks.
After the final whistle,
ESPN
reported that
Pep Guardiola
said: "I say thank you to all my players, especially Kevin because he is one of the most talented players and you see how he runs with the ball.
"He is a good example for the young players, for our academy players. "They know how good Kevin De Bruyne is and when they see how he runs and he fights for the ball, that is the best example and he helps us to a better club for the future.
"His performance today - I have no words to describe." City are now 14 points ahead of
Manchester United
in the Premier League standings, as Spurs drop to seventh place.
But Guardiola took the opportunity to praise Mauricio Pochettino's men after the clash. He said: "We made an outstanding performance, we scored four goals and created a mountain of chances against one of the best and strongest teams with one of the best coaches in the world.
"We are so satisfied for the mentality, winning 15 games and now another one.
"I am proud, I don't want to be humble, I am proud with my staff. We work a lot, the players know that.
"But without club support and good players it's impossible to create these sorts of things."
