Chelsea exec in lucky escape as glass table is blown off roof crashing into Antonio Conte’s car

ANTONIO CONTE was at the centre of a training-ground storm — as his car was smashed up during gale-force winds.
A glass table top was lifted from a rooftop  terrace and crashed down on to the Chelseachief’s motor, causing thousands of pounds’ worth of damage.

It also narrowly missed the club’s director of communications, Steve Atkins.
Blues insider, who has seen CCTV footage of the incident, said: “It’s dramatic stuff.
“You see Steve walk right past Antonio’s car, then suddenly this massive square of glass hurtles out of nowhere and down on to it at frightening speed, sending thousands of tiny pieces flying everywhere.
“Steve was pretty shaken up by the whole thing, as you can imagine. And Antonio’s car was left in a right old state. A gaping hole right in it.” Atkins was walking to his car, which was parked near Conte’s, when the powerful gust sent the glass flying.
Conte has his own parking spot alongside other Chelsea executives at the club’s lavish training ground in the Surrey town of Cobham. It is situated directly below his first-floor office which has an outside area complete with garden  furniture, including a large, square table.
Conte’s modest Nissan Juke has been taken away for extensive repairs and he is driving a Toyota Yaris in the meantime.
Chelsea’s environmentally conscious manager shunned a luxury club car and opted instead for a run-of-the-mill family crossover to get him from A to B, as he lives just a mile or so from the training ground.
Storm Eleanor battered the UK last week, with winds of up to 90mph.
Atkins refused to comment when contacted by SunSport.
