Cameroon down Sierra Leone

Stephane Mbia
Cameroon have taken a step closer to qualifying for 2015 CAF Africa Cup of Nations finals after beating Sierra Leone by 2-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde on Wednesday.
First half goals by Leonard Kweuke and captain Stephane Mbia saw the Indomitable Lions going to halftime enjoying possession and the lead.
The two sides played to a goalless draw at the same venue on Saturday but this time around Cameroon made full use of their home ground advantage.
The hosts were all over the visitors from the first whistle and in the 4th minute a great cross from the right found Kweuke, who headed home leaving the visiting goalkeeper with no chance.
Three minutes later, the captain, Mbia was unmarked in the edge of the box and he managed to find the far corner with a beautiful header to the applause of the home crowd.
The visitors tried in the first half but Cameroon was too good for them as they kept possession and attacked their half with more purpose.
Towards the end of the first half, the Leone Stars appealed for a penalty after Alhassan Bangura was brought down in the box but the referee, Thierry Nkurunziza waved play on.
In the dying minutes of the first half, there was less action as the hosts kept possession and controlled proceedings.
Although the second half saw the visitors coming stronger, they couldn’t do anything much to trouble Cameroon as they continued with their dominance.
Cameroon remained in their half for the most part of the game, exchanged good touches as they claimed the three points.
The Indomitable Lions top Group D with 10 points and will be guaranteed of a place in Morocco should Ivory Coast beat DR Congo in Abidjan.
