ANDRE GOMES has told Barcelona he wants to leave the club, according to reports.
There is speculation that Manchester United are interested in the wantaway midfielder who has been at the Blaugrana for the past 12 months. Manchester Evening News reports the 24-year-old wants an exit from the club and was unhappy with their pursuit of Jean-Michael Seri.
The Ivorian midfielder was set to join Barcelona in a £34.64million deal which would push Gomes even further down the pecking order at the Nou Camp after struggling to make an impact in his debut season.
Though it has since been reported that the two clubs failed to agree on terms and the deal fell through.
The Portuguese international made 30 league appearances scoring three goals after his £30m signing from Valencia.
But he was voted the Worst Signing of the Season by readers of the Spanish newspaper Marca and often booed at Nou Camp.
United have been in a tug-of-war with Juventus for Gomes’ signature throughout the summer. Jose Mourinho has already put in an offer of £31m back in June but it was snubbed by Barcelona after talks with agent Jorge Mendes.
The playmaker has also been linked to a move to Liverpool in exchange for Philippe Coutinho who has been a long-term target for the Catalans and would help to fill the massive void left by Neymar’s £198m departure.
