Eduardo keen to depart Chelsea

ANTONIO CONTE is ready to move for a goalkeeper with Eduardo keen to depart to save his World Cup dream.
Portuguese keeper Eduardo was in the frame for the No 2 position behind Thibaut Courtois when he extended his contract in May. But the 34-year-old has since seen Willy Caballero arrive on a free transfer.
He naturally fears losing his place in the Portugal squad for next year’s World Cupwithout back-up games under his belt.
Eduardo was No 2 behind Sporting Lisbon’s Rui  Patricio in last year’s European Championship win.
Now he is confident of making the squad again… especially given some first-team play.
His exit would add to Conte’s problems as he is already short of players.
Shay Given, 41, is one experienced keeper who is available on a free. Conte has been forced to defend his decision to pick Courtois as one of Chelsea’s penalty takers.
The keeper took Blues’ second penalty in the Community Shield shootout loss to Arsenal. But he ballooned his strike hopelessly over the bar as his side missed out on their first silverware of the season.
When asked why he opted to hand Courtois a spot-kick, Conte was bullish in his response.
He said: “He is one of our best players to take a penalty. "If your player shows you in training to be one of the best, you pick him to play and try and shoot a penalty.
"But don't forget [Alvaro] Morata is a forward and he did the same."
