Carlo Ancelotti insists he does not want to leave Bayern Munich and hopes to extend his stay in Bavaria.
It emerged earlier this week that the Italian coach could be facing his final term in charge, which attracted interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs. On Wednesday, a source told ESPN FC that the Bayern boss would return to the Premier League if a break clause in his three-year contract was triggered next summer.
However, at a press conference ahead of a Bundesliga match against Mainz, Ancelotti insisted that his future is committed to the German giants.
The 58-year-old said: “I am very happy here and I would like to stay for a long time.
“All I can say about my contract is that it runs until June 30, 2019.
“But I am not thinking about my contract at the moment. I only know that I would like to do a good job here.
“I hope to continue here but, after that, if I am not here I have to find another solution. I was in England for two years; I had a a good experience and have good memories of this period. “But I also can say I was in France too, with a good experience and good memories. And I was in Spain too with good experience and good memories – and I was also in Italy and Italy is my country.”
The Italian coach led the German outfit to their fifth straight domestic title last term, but the new campaign got off to a shaky start after an underwhelming pre-season and a recent 2-0 defeat to Hoffenheim.
Ancelotti insists that his side will reignite their winnings ways and silence the doubters, he said: “We are not top of the league right now, but we will be soon.”
