Sigurdsson negotiation broken down

Talks between Everton and Swansea over Gylfi Sigurdsson have broken down but any suggestion the deal is off is nonsense, according to Sky sources.
One source has suggested that a verbal agreement was reached between the two clubs, only for Everton to withdraw the offer 48 hours later and refer back to a previous offer, understood to be around £40m.
There is now a fear at Goodison Park that the now soured relations may scupper the process completely, seriously hampering Ronald Koeman's and Paul Clement's planned transfer dealings over the next three weeks. However, another source has since told us the two clubs are still trying to find a resolution and any suggestion the deal is off is nonsense.
Sky Sports News understands that the two clubs are less than £5m apart on a fee, with Sigurdsson's wages not expected to be a problem.
The Iceland international has been linked with a move to Everton all summer, with Koeman saying his side were "close" to completing a deal on Sunday after their 2-2 friendly draw with Sevilla. Koeman said: "We are close [on Sigurdsson], we have to wait. But still, the deal is not done."
Before that, over the weekend, Swans boss Paul Clement had said nothing had changed with regards to a transfer for the midfielder.
"No change since we last spoke," Clement said. "All parties would like it resolved. But my focus is on the players I'm working with and getting ready for the season." The Toffees and Leicester have previously had £40m bids rejected by Swansea, who value the player at £50m.
Sigurdsson made 40 appearances for Swansea last season, scoring 10 goals as his side avoided relegation from the Premier League.
