PUZZLED Jurgen Klopp fired back at Sevilla’s coaches after they snubbed him following Liverpool’s 2-2 Champions League draw.
The visitors bench might have been glad with an away draw after the Reds had dominated – but they shocked Anfield boss Klopp by heading straight down the tunnel. Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo had been sent to the stands midway through the second period for blatantly throwing the ball away to stop Joe Gomez taking a quick throw.
And Klopp seemed to think that was the reason for the visitors’ coaches ignoring him on the final whistle.
The German yelled towards the Sevilla coaches: “Why are you shouting at me? Why do you do that? What have I done?
“I didn’t send him [Berizzo] off.”
Ultimately, though, Klopp might be more upset with his team’s failure to hold onto a well-merited 2-1 lead in this group opener.
Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah appeared to have put the Reds firmly in control after Wissam Ben Yedder’s surprise early breakthrough for Sevilla. But Argentine midfielder Joaquin Correa sneaked through for a 72nd minute equaliser.
Both sides, however, will still expect to through. Their group rivals NK Maribor and Spartak Moscow drew 1-1 in Slovenia after an ugly flare-up in the streets before kick-off between fans and police.
