Man City keeper Ederson wears protective skullcap in training

MANCHESTER CITY keeper Ederson took no chances upon his return to training – by wearing a protective skullcap.
The Etihad keeper was caught in the face by Liverpool winger Sadio Mane’s bootduring Saturday’s 5-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side. He needed eight minutes of treatment as he lay on the turf and was given oxygen while being taken off on a stretcher.
A shocking image posted on social media showed the true extent of Ederson‘s injuries.
But he was back in action on Monday, albeit with a Petr Cech-style piece of protective headgear.
That will help provide extra cover against bumps and bruises before Pep Guardiola’s side get their Champions League campaign underway against Feyenoord on Wednesday.
Liverpool will appeal the three-match ban Mane received for his automatic red card. Referee Jon Moss – in a decision that split the footballing world – opted to send the Senegal forward off straight away.
But Bournemouth star Matt Ritchie’s similar challenge on Swansea’s Alfie Mawson produced just a yellow.
And Manchester United legend Gary Neville – who protested Mane’s red – highlighted the inconsistency further during West Ham’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield.
It was then that the Irons’ Winston Reid caught Town’s Steve Mounie round the head with his boot.
