Sky and Football League agree mega £600m deal to show any midweek Championship game on TV

THE English Football League and Sky have agreed a new £600m deal to show any midweek Championship game live on television.
Details of the revolutionary five-year contract between 2019-2024 – communicated to the 72 member clubs last night – are to be announced today. From next season, the broadcaster can show every midweek match via its interactive service so that viewers can choose which game to watch.
There are eight full midweek rounds of Championship matches so there will be regular head-to-head clashes with Champions League games shown on BT Sport.
Sky Sports have retained the rights to the Football League in a deal worth around £120million a year.
That represents an increase on the £90m-a-year terms of the current deal.
Channel 5 have rights to show Football League highlights until 2018.
Earlier this year Sky Sports lost out to BT Sport as they retained exclusive rights to show Champions League matches.
In a deal worth a staggering £1.2billion, Sky’s rivals will show Europe’s biggest matches until the summer of 2021.
