Aston Villa whizz kid Keinan Davis in United’s sights after they have £5m bid rejected

KEINAN DAVIS is wanted by Manchester United, who have seen a £5million bid rejected by Aston Villa.
The Aston Villa starlet, 19, is viewed as the next Dwight Yorke after becoming a regular under former Old Trafford favourite Steve Bruce. United moved swiftly to get ahead of rivals Arsenal and Everton - but Villa have rejected their opening bid.
Davis, who was let go by home town club Stevenage two years ago, has scored two goals in 10 games for the Villa Park outfit this season.
And that represents rapid progress since joining from tiny Biggleswade Town in December 2015.
The Southern League Premier Division outfit won’t benefit from any move however as there is no sell-on clause. Instead, they accepted a £5,000 offer - plus the gate receipts from one of Villa’s Under-23 fixtures. United have a track record of giving prospects fresh out if non league a chance. Chris Smalling joined them from Fulham in 2010 two years after turning out for Maidstone.
Biggleswade U18 boss Dave Northfield reckons Davis is bound for glory sooner or later. He said: “It’s been an incredible journey.
“When Stevenage released him, they said he would never play professionally. “But Keinan can play so many ways.
“He’s strong and great at holding up the ball but he’s also deceptively quick.”
