Bayern Munich confirm Jupp Heynckes as manager until the end of the season

JUPP HEYNCKES is back as manager of Bayern Munich.
The 72-year-old has been named as manager until the end of the season, in his FOURTH spell back at the Bundesliga giants. Ancelotti was sacked last week after poor results and ex-Bayern defender Willy Sagnol was placed in temporary charge.
Despite his age, Heynckes says he feels "fit" enough to coach Bayern.
He led them to the Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup treble in 2013 - the only German club to ever achieve the feat.
Heynckes told Bayern's website: "I would not have returned to any other club in the world, but Bayern Munich is in my heart. "My coaching team and I will now try to bring the fans successful football.
"I am very much looking forward to this task. "
Leading German newspaper Bild questioned whether the move was a good one as they wrote: "Bayern is pulling Jupp Heynckes out of retirement".
But with the team in disarray currently, the Bayern hierachy wanted an authoritative character who knows the club intimately. Bayern are third in the Bundesliga, five points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
A stinging 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League led the club to sack Ancelotti last week.
Two German coaches are believed to be in the running to manage Bayern in the long-term.
The first is Julian Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim and former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is the second. Both have no prior experience with the club.
Heynckes coached Bayern over three periods - from 1987 to 1991, briefly in 2009 and then between 2011 and 2013.
Bayern said in a statement that Heynckes would take over from Monday on a contract until June 30, 2018.
