England U17s 5 Spain U17s 2: Young Lions win World Cup after being 2-0 down thanks to heroics from Golden Ball winner Phil Foden

ENGLAND'S Under-17s heroes produced a sensational comeback from two-nil down to win the World Cup after hammering Spain 5-2 in India.

Goals from Rhian Brewster, Morgan Gibbs-White, two from Phil Foden and another from Marc Guehi made it a fantastic night for English football, less than six months after the Three Lions Under-20s claimed the World Cup in South Korea. England could have taken the lead within a minute in front of the 80,000 crowd in Kolkata when the lively Brewster combined with Gibbs-White but his shot was saved by Alvaro Fernandez.
Against the run of play Spain took the lead when Sergio Gomez smartly finished from close range from what looked like an offside position.
However, replays showed Three Lions full-back Steven Sessegnon played the Barcelona youngster onside for the opener.
Gomez doubled Spain's lead with a fabulous strike on 30 minutes after good work Cesar Gelabert who pulled the ball back smartly. Despite the two-goal deficit, England kept their composure to play some brilliant football with Manchester City's Foden pulling the strings and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi causing havoc out wide.
Sessegnon should have pulled one back when he cut inside but fluffed his left foot shot and Hudson-Odoi hit the post.
But England gave themselves a lifeline just before the break when tournament top scorer Brewster headed in from a pin-point Sessegnon cross for the Liverpool striker's eighth goal of the finals. The momentum truly shifted in England's favour after the break when Foden and Sessegnon combined down the right and the winger's cross was met by Gibbs-White to level.
A great reaction save by Curtis Anderson from Juan Miranda a minute later kept it level. But with 20 minutes left, the oustanding Foden put England in front. There was more great work from winger Hudson-Odoi and his intelligent cross was finished off by Foden.
England finished it asGuehi got the fourth, forcing the ball home after Spain failed to clear from a cross. Foden made it five and sent his side down into the history books with his late strike on the break.
