EVERTON have been placed on red alert after Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca revealed he is dreaming of a Premier League switch "soon".
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman was placed under more pressure after a 1-1 draw with Brighton yesterday. Wayne Rooney came to the Dutchman's rescue with a penalty - after SunSport told you Rafa Benitez was in the frame to replace him.
But now it appears Fonseca, 44, is lining up the gig for himself in an interview with the Telegraph.
Fonseca was among the candidates to replace Roberto Martinez in 2016 before Blues bosses plumped for Koeman.
And it looks like Fonseca - who will reportedly be given a seal of approval for any Prem job by Pep Guardiola - is planning on rounding off some unfinished business. The Mozambique-born coach, whose contract expires at the end of the season, said: "All coaches want to go to England and I am one.
"I have this dream and I believe this can happen. I believe a lot this can happen. If it's soon or not, I have this dream.
"I have a big, big passion about the game and the atmosphere in England is amazing. I hope one day to live it.
"It’s the biggest league in the world. For any coach, to work in England can be amazing. You have the best coaches and the best players." Asked when he could land in England, Fonseca, who speaks perfect English, responded: "I hope soon, but I don't know when.
"I finish my contract with Shakhtar at the end of this season. They start to try to speak with me and we will see what happens.
"At this moment I am focused on our league and the Champions League."
