Aaron Mooy won the ball of Juan Mata on half way and sprinted up field before sliding a pass into Tom Ince.
He turned substitute Victor Lindelof inside out before having a shot from a narrow angle which David De Gea palmed away. But Mooy was there to hammer home the loose ball.
Just five minutes later the Terriers were in dreamland while Lindelof wanted the ground to swallow him up. Goalkeeper Jonas Lossl hoofed the ball up field and Lindelof completely missed his header.
Lauren Depoitre was away rounding De Gea before slotting the ball into an unguarded goal.
