Ex-Blues chief Michael Emenalo becomes new Monaco sporting director

MICHAEL EMENALO says Monaco was a "natural" choice after the former Chelsea chief was confirmed as the French side's new sporting director.
The 52-year-old stunned Stamford Bridge officials by quitting his role after 10 years as technical director earlier this month.
Michael Emenalo has been appointed the new sporting director at Monaco
He was linked with a move the the reigning Ligue 1 champions, and that switch was confirmed today.
Emenalo said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for me in a high quality project.
"AS Monaco has shown great progress for several seasons and I am convinced that the future will be just as ambitious.
"Vadim Vasilyev's willingness to see me join AS Monaco was decisive and for me, the choice was natural after my decision to leave Chelsea." Monaco's vice-president Vasilyev was equally as delighted to snap-up someone with such a proven track record.
Upon Emenalo's appointment, he said: "I am very happy to be able to count on Michael. "I invested a lot in his arrival.
"His know-how in detection and recruitment, as well as the technical experience acquired in one of the most successful clubs in recent years, are the reasons that led us to present this ambitious challenge. "This appointment is another sign of our ambition and our desire to be as competitive as possible."
Emenalo's latest venture comes less than a month after Chelsea owner Roman Abrahovich failed in a plea to get his trusted lieutenant to stay in West London.
After handing in his notice following the victory over Manchester United, both the Nigerian and the Blues claimed his departure was down to a desire to spend more time with his family. Chelsea have still not made a decision on a replacement.
Director Marina Granovskaia taking on much of the workload he left behind in the meantime.
