Barcelona told they must pay £44million for Gremio midfielder Arthur

BARCELONA must stump up £44million if they want to land Brazilian star Arthur from Gremio.
The 21-year-old is highly fancied to make a move to Europe and Barca are favourites to sign him.
Arhur has a release clause of £44million
But Gremio president Romildo Bolzan has taken a firm stance over the promising midfielder.
He told RAC1: "Arthur has a contract with Gremio and a release clause of  £44m.
"If they pay that we can't do anything but there is no conversation or negotiations open."
There was talk of Gremio threatening to report Barcelona to Fifa for tapping up the player. Barca apparently sent technical secretary Robert Fernandez and Andre Cury - their representative in Brazil who secured the signing of Neymar in 2013 - to negotiate with the player and his father.
Arthur then posed for photographs in a Barcelona shirt. In another snap he posed with Cury - much to Gremio's annoyance.
But Bolzan insisted the Porto-Alegre club were aware about the meeting and had authorised it.
But aren't happy with the way things turned out.
Explained Bolzan: "They told us that Arthur was going to eat with some representatives from Barcelona.

"[But] Gremio are not comfortable with this situation."
What seems certain, though,  is that Gremio are determined not to let their man go on the cheap.
Barcelona will either have to pay his release clause... or miss out.
