Blues got rid of him to make space for Cesc Fabregas - Frank Lampard

FRANK LAMPARD has revealed that Chelsea released him to accommodate the arrival of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.
Lampard insists Blues chiefs feared that he would not get on well with the Spain international after several on-pitch feuds.

Frank Lampard has revealed that Chelsea released him to accommodate the arrival of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

The 39-year-old played 429 times for Chelsea and still holds the record for most goals for the Blues (147).
It was announced that the former England international would leave the club in June 3 2014 - after 13 years of service- and Fabregas arrived at Stamford Bridge only nine days later.
Lampard — who hung up his boots in February — went on to join MLS side New York City but returned to the Premier League in a brief spell with Manchester City.
Speaking about his departure, Lampard told BT Sport: "We never played together! They let me go to get Cesc in. "Me and Cesc never really got on well on the pitch so they didn't think we could share a dressing room."
The feud is believed to stretch back to the 2007 League Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea.
They went onto face each other on 18 different occasions and they often clashed on the pitch.
Fabregas is currently in his fourth season at Chelsea, after he signed a five-year contract with the club back in 2014.
