JOSE MOURINHO will have an £80m Manchester United transfer war-chest in January, it is understood.
The United boss met with club chiefs last week to thrash out their plans for next month's upcoming window.
The Red Devils are in the hunt for the Premier League title along with rivals City after an impressive start to the season.
Mourinho wants to boost his squad with new faces, including a left-back, ring winger and creative midfielder in the No 10 role.
And it is thought some of the United squad will be axed to help boost the kitty including Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian.
An Old Trafford source said: “Jose met with some of the clubs top brass including Woodward last week and could have a pretty penny to spend. “It sounds like some of the summer budget is being advanced into January. Jose is also looking to get rid of some players.
“Shaw and Darmian are in the firing line. There's a few key positions he wants to fill throughout the squad.”
Newcastle were interested in signing Shaw, 22, next month, but have been put off by United's £20m asking price. Darmian is set to be sold as well, with Sevilla and Roma both ready to swoop for the 27-year-old, who has a £15m valuation.
United boosted their title hopes over the weekend with a stunning 3-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates.
