Liverpool star Mohamed Salah beats Eden Hazard and Ashley Young to PFA Player of the Month award
LIVERPOOL forward Mohamed Salah's red-hot form has seen him named PFA Player of the Month for November.
The
flier scored seven in four league matches to rise to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with 12.
And he held off competition from Chelsea's
Eden Hazard
and Manchester United winger turned full-back
Ashley Young.
Egyptian international Salah took 54 per cent of the vote after making the six-man shortlist.
Young trailed on 18 per cent but could scoop an even bigger prize after excelling at left-back.
The former Aston Villa star will be in contention for a World Cup call-up if he can keep up his performances. Hazard has also hit goalscoring form recently and took nine per cent of the vote.
The Belgian has played a starring role as defending champions Chelsea start to put a run together. Kevin De Bruyne was also up for the gong but failed to crack the top three.
Watford's Brazilian sensation Richarlison and Stoke ace Xherdan Shaqiri completed the nominees.
Winner Salah has been compared to Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez for his contribution to Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp is having none of it.
Before the win over Brighton, he said: “I am not interested.
“I like Luis Suarez’s attitude and style of play but he is not a Liverpool player any more.
“I respect him a lot. He is a Liverpool legend. He is a fantastic player, still a fantastic player.
“It’s not that I have to compare players. We have another player in Mo who has had a big impact on performances. It’s a story for social media and newspapers, I am not a little bit interested in it.”
