Luke Shaw wants £5million Manchester United pay-off to leave in January
LUKE SHAW wants a £5m Manchester United pay-off to leave in January, it is understood.
The England full-back has fallen out with boss Jose Mourinho and United are ready to cut their loses.
The 22-year-old earns £130,000-a-week, around £7m-a-year, under the terms of his current contract.
A number of clubs in the Premier League and Europe are interested in signing him, including
Newcastle
.
But Shaw knows he will not get the same wage packet elsewhere, and wants a settlement from the Red Devils.
Rafa Benitez
launched an enquiry for the left-back last week, to help boost his side’s Premier League survival hopes. But the Toon were put off with United’s £20m asking price, as they battle to claim back the £30m they paid Saints for him.
It is thought United are willing to pay
Shaw
around £2m in a severance package to get him off their books. He may be forced to leave on loan for six-months in January, to give
Mourinho
time to decide his long-term future.
An Old Trafford source said: “Shaw will not make it easy for the club to show him the door in January. “The club have one figure in mind while he has another for severance pay. They are way off of each other.
“He wants to get his career moving again, but he is not going to do United a favour if they do try to force him to leave.”
