Alexis Sanchez will earn £60k-a-week more at Manchester United by snubbing City
ALEXIS SANCHEZ can earn an extra £60,000-a-week by snubbing Pep Guardiola for Jose Mourinho.
Desperate Manchester United boss Mourinho will “fight” to land the Arsenal contract rebel this month.
He plans to hijack the striker’s move to City by offering Sanchez a whopping £350,000-a-week wages and a £25million signing-on fee.
Mourinho will also pay Arsenal £30m and Sanchez’s agent £5m — fees Guardiola refuses to cough up.
The Special One said: “Normally investment in the squad is made in the summer. We build a squad with this idea, this philosophy I share with the club’s owners.
“But if there is a fantastic opportunity on the table, you fight for that. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.” Arsenal are demanding £35m for 29-year-old Chile international Sanchez.
And although he has his heart set on a reunion with his old Barcelona boss Pep, City are only prepared to offer a £20m transfer fee and £290,000-a-week salary. They also refuse to pay agent Fernando Felicevich £5m in commission.
Emirates boss Arsene Wenger has finally conceded his star player could be sold this month and would love a bidding war in Manchester. The Frenchman is already preparing for life without Sanchez and earmarked Bordeaux’s £44m-rated Brazilian winger Malcom, 20.
Sanchez now has to decide whether to join City this month, wait until the end of the season and move as a free agent, or take the huge windfall on offer and join United now.
On top of the cash, Mourinho is also ready to throw in £27m-rated Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of any deal. Former Arsenal star Paul Merson told Sky Sports: “Mkhitaryan is one of the best players in the Premier League, his confidence is just shot.
“If Arsenal could get him playing like he was at Borussia Dortmund, they would have one of the best players in the league.
"But if Sanchez chooses to go to City, that’s a real custard pie to United.”
