ANTONIO CONTE has revealed why he shuns flashy wheels to drive a modest car.
SunSport revealed exclusively how the multi-millionaire manager’s £15,000 Nissan Juke was crushed when a huge glass tabletop blew off a rooftop terrace and onto its bonnet during a storm last week.
Conte is driving an even smaller Toyota Yaris while his family saloon is repaired and the Italian, who earns £9million-a-year, says he has no desire to buy a bling motor.
The
Chelsea boss said: “This is my wife's desire to have a small car because a small car is easier to drive and then especially if you are starting to drive on the right.
"This car is enough for my daughter, for my wife because my wife uses the car to bring my daughter to school and if we want to have a dinner around Cobham we can go.
"I think that it is enough to have this type of car. "I don't know about this but everyone has to understand the utility of something.
"In this case to bring my daughter from my house to the international school it is not necessary to have a Ferrari or a Porsche.
"It is enough to have a Nissan to do this in a simple way.”
Conte's Juke was smashed earlier this week when a glass table-top was lifted from a rooftop terrace and crashed down onto his motor. A Blues insider, who has seen CCTV footage of the incident, said: “It’s dramatic stuff.
“You see Steve walk right past Antonio’s car, then suddenly this massive square of glass hurtles out of nowhere and down on to it at frightening speed, sending thousands of tiny pieces flying everywhere.
“Steve was pretty shaken up by the whole thing, as you can imagine. And Antonio’s car was left in a right old state. A gaping hole right in it.”
Chelsea midfielder
N’Golo Kante is just like his boss and drives a down-to-earth Mini, costing around £20,000.
But the brilliant Frenchman crashed it on the way to Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi final clash against Arsenal. Kante, 26, hit a lorry on King's Road as he made his way to Stamford Bridge.
"He must have been pretty annoyed but he was more than happy for fans to take selfies with him."
