LUKE SHAW says he has never felt better as he is handed a fifth straight start for Manchester United.
The left-back is beginning to put his injury woes behind him after finally being given the nod to start a run of games for the
Red Devils - including
tonight's at Stoke.
Shaw jas struggled to make his mark under Jose Mourinho and was blasted by the Special One after a defeat at Watford last season.
But recently there have been plenty of glimpses of the talent that persuaded United to part with an initial £27million - potentially rising to £33m - for the former
Southampton man.
After missing a combined 76 games over the last three seasons through injuries alone, Shaw reckons he's as fit as he's ever been.
He said: "A bad injury like I had always stays with you a little bit afterwards but it’s in the past and I feel really good and really fit, and my leg feels perfect. "Body-wise and fitness-wise I probably feel the best I’ve ever felt.
"Mentally I feel very strong as well and I’m enjoying my football, and it’s now about pushing on and helping the team." Shaw impressed on his comeback from foot surgery with a man-of-the-match display against CSKA Moscow in a 2-1 win at the beginning of December.
And the England international, 22, says he never lost confidence in his fitness. He told ManUtd.com : "I’ve always, especially recently felt really confident, and I knew I was in a good moment fitness-wise with the work I’d been doing.
"And I knew when my chance would come I’d be ready. "It was really nice to be recognised by the fans in that game and from there I wanted to build on that performance and now it’s been four or five full games I’ve had and I just want to kick on now.
"I’m not looking back, I’m only looking forward."
