Zlatan Ibrahimovic completes LA Galaxy transfer

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC was unveiled as an LA Galaxy player - alongside a LION.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been unveiled as an LA Galaxy player
Ibrahimovic - who famously compared himself to the king of the jungle - said in a video posted by Galaxy: "Los Angeles, welcome to Zlatan."
Ibra, 36, has agreed a deal to end his career in Major League Soccer after deciding to call time on his Manchester United spell.
The former United star, who will wear No9 at Galaxy, insisted the club's success was the reason he joined.
He said: "Coming to play in the United States, it is only fitting for me to join the most successful team in Major League Soccer, the LA Galaxy. "I am excited to join a club with a winning legacy that has embodied soccer in Los Angeles for over 20 years.
"I would like to thank everyone at the club for making it possible to play for the LA Galaxy. "I am looking forward to joining my team-mates, playing at StubHub Center in front of our fans and helping our team compete this season."
The outspoken striker announced his arrival in Hollywood by taking a full-page advert out in the LA Times. He paid for an entire page, which was published mostly blank with the message: "Dear Los Angeles, you're welcome."
And in an interview with the paper, when asked whether LA is big enough to handle him, Zlatan said: "If it's not, I'll make it bigger. "After being in Europe, winning 33 trophies, playing in the best teams in the world, playing with the best players in the world, I wanted to come to the US and play my game there.
"I wanted people to enjoy my game there and to win, and I chose the Galaxy to do that."
Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid said: "Adding one of the finest goal scorers in this sport’s history to our roster will tremendously help our club in the hunt for a sixth MLS Cup.
"As one of the most successful players of all time, we believe he’ll have a very positive impact on our team. "We are confident that Zlatan can be one of the most dangerous strikers in our league and we are excited to integrate him into our club."
Ibrahimovic announced yesterday that he would be leaving Old Trafford after a season-and-a-half with United.
He scored 28 goals for the club in his first year before a knee ligament injury ended his season early, and has struggled to find his best form this season since recovering full fitness.
Ibrahimovic thanked United for his short Premier League stint.
He said: "Great things also come to an end and it is time to move on after two fantastic seasons with Manchester United.
"Thank you to the club, the fans, the team, the coach, the staff and everybody who shared with me this part of my history."
