Everton submits improved bid on Sigurdsson

EVERTON have made a £40million bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Ronald Koeman has stepped up his pursuit of the Swansea midfielder and is hopeful of his increased offer being enough to land him. The offer will break the record fee for a transfer at Goodison if the Swans accept and personal terms are agreed.
Leicester were also interested in the Iceland international, 27, but Koeman is in pole position to land his No1 summer target.
Everton have already spent big on. Michael Keane Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramírez and Jordan Pickford.
And Sigurdsson will take their spending past the £100million mark for the summer.
Koeman wants the ex-Tottenham midfielder as his No10 next season and the move will force Ross Barkley down the pecking order at Everton.
Ross Barkley has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham and if he departs it would pave the way for Sigurdsson to join Everton.  It was previously reported Everton were told to speed up their move for the midfielder, with the Swans getting impatient.
Koeman has said he is planning on bringing in more players – having already signed Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Sandro.
Koeman told the Dutch media: “So far, I am very pleased with the way Everton have strengthened.
“Within our possibilities we have been able to get everything we needed.
“If we get one or two qualify players we can go for a place in the top six.”
