TOTTENHAM have confirmed the signing of Ajax’s highly-rated centre-back Davinson Sanchez on a six-year deal until 2023.
The 21-year-old has been chased by Mauricio Pochettino all summer, and he has now completed a club-record deal in the region of £40million. Spurs said in a statement: “We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Davinson Sanchez subject to medical & work permit.”
SunSport revealed yesterday that Spurs had agreed a deal with the Dutch club to bring him to North London, and the move has now been wrapped up.
The Colombian international has spoken of his joy at signing for last season’s FA Cup semi-finalists.
Speaking to the club website, he said: “I would like to thank the coach, management, players and fans of Ajax.
“It is a great move for me to come here to develop my career.
“I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club as Tottenham Hotspur. “I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players and meeting everyone there.”
Last campaign for the Eredivisie side, Sanchez featured 43 times as Ajax finished as runners-up to Manchester United in the Europa League final.
Before his move to Holland in 2016, he represented Colombian club Atletico Nacional – where he helped them win the prestigious Copa Libertadores.
