Manchester United vs Tottenham: Spurs admit Harry Kane DID suffer hamstring injury in Liverpool win and could miss Old Trafford clash

HARRY KANE is in a race against time to be fit to face Manchester United tomorrow lunchtime.
Tottenham admit the striker DID strain a hamstring against Liverpool on Sunday and will be  a doubt for his side’s trip to Old Trafford. England ace Kane, 24, was seen feeling the back of his leg as he was substituted in the 88th minute having hit two goals in the 4-1 win.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted Kane was not injured,  just tired after a gruelling start to the season.
But he left Kane out of his squad for Wednesday’s 3-2 home League Cup defeat by West Ham before admitting Kane’s injury is a worry.
Asked whether his star striker would be back to face United, Poch refused to confirm and replied, rather intriguingly: “We’ll see.” SunSport understands Spurs’  medical team are keeping  an eye  on Kane’s injury this week and he has had regular treatment.
The Premier League’s Golden Boot holder will be given as much time as  possible to prove his fitness for what will be a pivotal clash in the title race. Kane, has scored 15 goals in his last 11 matches for club and  country but will be assessed again before  Spurs  fly to Manchester this afternoon.
If he travels as expected, he could face a late fitness test  before Pochettino makes a final call on whether to risk him — ahead of the  Wednesday night’s Champions League game with Real Madrid at Wembley. Toby Alderweireld shrugged off Spurs’ League  Cup KO claiming it was no drama.
Only time will tell if the fourth-round horror show  when they threw away a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 will have a knock-on effect for Spurs’ title hopes.
Belgian defender Alderweireld, 28, said: “Of course we’d love to have won but we don’t have to be too dramatic.
“We conceded a goal and then the game changed. I think in that situation we have to do better, of course.
“We were not flying or anything in our heads but it’s a reality check.  Now we have to make up for it at United.”
