DEMARAI GRAY has escaped a retrospective ban after being reviewed for diving to win a penalty for Leicester against Manchester City last night.
The winger went down under a challenge from Kyle Walker, and Jamie Vardy netted a 97th-minute penalty to send the Carabao Cup tie into extra-time.
And after an FA panel debated whether the 21-year-old deserved a ban for simulation.
However, it was NOT a unanimous decision.
Although Vardy went on to level the game at the death, Pep Guardiola's outfit held their nerve to win the Carabao Cup quarter-final on penalties.
Many social media users were convinced Gray deceived referee Bobby Madley and called for him to be retrospectively punished. City won the match 4-3 on penalties to progress to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
West Ham's Manuel Lanzini became the second Premier League player banned for diving after failing in his appeal to the FA. He has been suspended for two matches.
Everton star Oumar Niasse was the first Premier League player hit by the new laws introduced by the FA in November. He was suspended for two games after winning a controversial penalty under pressure from Scott Dann in a draw at Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha hit back at diving critics - claiming they "won't be happy unless I get my leg broken".
The FA decided the 25-year-old would face no punishment following simulation accusations after winning two spot-kicks in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last Saturday.
The Ivory Coast ace, writing on Instagram, blasted: "Diving this, diving that!
“All you people won’t be happy unless I get my leg broken . . . maybe that’s when you’ll realise maybe I’m targeted just a lot more than others! Joke! Smh.
“People with voices nowadays either bring you down or don’t say nothing unless you’re in the top teams . . . anyways I’ll still do me.”
