Huddersfield 2 Brighton 0: Steve Mounie scores a brace to pull the Terriers out of the relegation zone

STEVE MOUNIE scored his first goals since the opening day to pull Huddersfield clear of the relegation zone.
The record buy was brought in from the cold by David Wagner after a spell on the bench – and it proved to be an inspired decision.
Striker Steve Mounie scores the opening goal for Huddersfield
His first half double ended a run of four straight defeats for the Terriers and saw them leap-frog their opponents in the Premier League table.
It was a bitterly idsappointing display from Chris Hughton’s men who seemed to be suffering the after-effects of their hammering by Liverpool last weekend. Mounie – an £11.5 million signing from Montpellier had already seen an early volley saved by Matthew Ryan when he made the breakthrough in the 12th minute.
A corner from Chris Lowe was flicked on at the front post by Chirstopher Schindler and the French forward bundled in at the back post. It was just what he needed after losing his place in recent weeks to Laurent Depoitre in recent weeks.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Terriers this season – this was only their 10th so far.
But with England boss Gareth Southgate looking on, Brighton struggled to get a foothold back in the game.
And the home side doubled their lead just before the break as another fcorner from Lowe was not cleared by the visitors. Aaron Mooy’s chip back in was nodded back across goal by Mathias Zanka and Mounie planted a header beyond Ryan.
Huddersfield were buoyant but wasted second half chances to put the game to bed.
Ryan saved superbly as Tom Ince got on the end of TOmmy Smith’s low cross and the striker was also denied by a brilliant last ditch tackle by Lewis Dunk.
Yet there was little sign of a comeback from the visitors with sub Solly March skying a rare effort high over the bar.
