Villarreal 0 Barcelona 2: Barcelona remain unbeaten in La Liga

LIONEL MESSI made history as he and Luis Suarez combined to continue Barcelona’s unbeaten La Liga run.
The Argentina ace equalled Gerd Muller’s record of 525 goals for one club in the top European Leagues.

But it was not plain sailing for the visitors, who were on the backfoot in the early stages of the game.
Roberto Soriano came close to opening the scoring for the visitors after just 16 minutes.
But Marc-Andre ter Stegen leaped across his goal to deny the Italian’s effort in sublime style.
After a shaky start to the fixture, Barcelona settled and began to show their dominance at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Lionel Messi came close to breaking the deadlock after 41 minutes, but his low effort flew just wide of the woodwork.
Barcelona were handed a lifeline in the 60th minute when Raba was given a red card for a late challenge on Sergio Busquets. His dismissal fired the Spanish giants in action and Luis Suarez bagged the opener just 12 minutes later.
After a one-two with Paco Alcacer, the former Liverpool ace ran around the goalkeeper and guided the ball into the net. Messi went on to double Barca’s tally after he dribbled through two players and struck a sweet strike past Sergio Asenjo.
The game finished 2-0 and Barcelona remain firmly at the top of the Spanish top-flight.
