MANCHESTER UNITED’s stars looking gloomy

MANCHESTER UNITED’s stars looked gloomy as they landed back home at 3.30am.
The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup after a masterclass from the European champions. Manager Jose Mourinho looked stern, as did star player Paul Pogba, while Marouane Fellaini had his head bowed.
The Belgian had an eventful night in Skopje, becoming an overnight viral sensation because of a hilarious picture of him heading a high ball.
But there were concerns over his health after he was involved in a nasty head collision with Sergio Ramos.
The 29-year-old was given lengthy treatment on the sidelines, before donning a headband that made him look like tennis legend John McEnroe.
New £31million signing Victor Lindelof also looked glib after another difficult night in a red shirt.
He was red-faced in the US after bundling over Casemiro in United’s previous friendly with Real Madrid and has had a difficult start to life in Mourinho’s defence. But the Swede, 23, was slightly more settled against the European champions, even if he lost his man for the controversial opener.
Ashley young had iPhone headphones in and a baseball cap as he wheeled his suitcase back home while Paul Pogba also donned his bulky Beats earpieces.
United tarried to try and match the European champions, after Casemiro’s opener – that had a hint of offside – and Isco’s brilliant second. But their efforts were for nought, despite Romelu Lukaku's first goal for the club in a competitive match.
The Red Devils have three days to prepare for West Ham on Sunday - and Mourinho can have no complaints about a lack of preparation after a pre-season tour that has lasted a month.
After winning the Europa League at the end of last season, United will now play in the Champions League and are set to find out their fate when the draw is made on August 24.
