SADIO MANE has apologised for injuring Manchester City keeper Ederson in their horror clash.
The Senegalese winger took to Facebook to express his concern for the incident that cost him a red card in Liverpool’s 5-0 loss at the Etihad. Mane posted: "I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery.
"I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.
"I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon!"
Mane was dismissed on 37 minutes after his high foot collided with his opponent's face.
A worried Etihad crowd looked on as Ederson needed lengthy treatment. But wasn't taken to hospital and returned to watch the final stages.
The Liverpool player's sending off was "not intentional", according to City boss Pep Guardiola. And Reds' manager Jurgen Klopp, looking at losing his man for three games for dangerous play, said Mane "didn't see" the onrushing Ederson as he was focusing on the ball and their "unlucky" collision was "an accident". But he added: "I'm sure enough people will find a reason to say it's 100 per cent a red card.
"Sadio is very, very upset. He was shocked about the situation. "In the game everybody thought the goalkeeper was seriously injured.
