Real Madrid stars Luka Modric and Marcelo exchange words in angry clash on pitch during shock 2-1 defeat to Girona

REAL MADRID stars Luka Modric and Marcelo reportedly had a furious exchange of words during the 2-1 defeat to Girona.
Zinedine Zidane was left stunned as he saw his side beaten by a team who have only just earned promotion to the top flight.

And tempers appeared to boil over on the pitch throughout the game, with many Real players growing increasingly frustrated by their side’s failure to hit the target.
Among those caught snapping at each other were Marcelo and Modric, with the latter said to have berated his Brazilian team-mate for misplacing a pass.
AS claims Marcelo reacted badly and retorted: “You say that I’ve messed up… and you haven’t?” The report adds that both players quickly made up, but that still didn’t prevent Real from slipping to their second defeat in ten league games. Real are now eight points behind fierce rivals Barcelona, four behind Valencia and level with Atletico Madrid. However, there has been some good news for Real after Dani Carvajal made his highly-awaited return to training. The right-back has been out of action since September after being diagnosed with a pericardium infection.
And Zidane said: “Things are going well with Dani. It’s all positive. Today he started on the bike and it takes time. I am happy because he is healthy, but there is a recovery process. We will see how it evolves.”
