John Stones set to miss FOUR to SIX weeks of action with a hamstring injury
MANCHESTER CITY have a defender crisis on their hands as John Stones faces up to SIX week on the sidelines.
Stones has hobbled off injured for Manchester City against Leicester.
After chasing the ball, Stones suddenly pulled up holding his hamstring and Pep Guardiola has suggested that Stones could face nearly two months out.
Guardiola said: "He will be out for a long time, four to six weeks I think."
The Barnsley-born centre back was replaced by Eliaquin Mangala, who joined Vincent Kompany in defence.
What make matters worse is that City are short in defence with the in-form Nicolas Otamendi currently sidelined.
And the injury comes just as Stones was beginning to prove why Pep Guardiola decided to splash over £47 million on the defender in 2016.
Stones has already clocked up 18 appearances for goal-hungry City this season and has even popped up with three goals along the way.
The defender had a difficult first year with the club, following his £47.5m move from Everton, struggling for form, suffering injury and ending the campaign on the bench.
But Guardiola himself has recently praised Stones' recent development.
He said: “He is more mature.”
“Every player when he's 20 or 21 is completely different to when he is 27 or 28. To have experience in the
Champions League
you need to live that.
"Last season in the Nou Camp, this in San Paolo [against Napoli] then against the best in Neymar and Gabriel [Jesus] against Brazil."
