Fuenlabrada 0 Real Madrid 2 : Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez on target

REAL MADRID struggled against third-tier minnows Fuenlabrada as Zinedine Zidane took the chance to rest his stars.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Isco and Sergio Ramos did not make the squad for the Copa del Rey first-leg win. And Los Blancos' reserves did not take their chance to impress, although Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez scored second-half goals  to avoid embarrassment.
Real chief Zidane said: "I'm happy, we scored two goals and kept a clean sheet.
"We had patience. We knew we could find the gap in the second-half and we did."
The visitors opened the scoring from the penalty spot when Fran Garcia pulled down Achraf Hakimi just after the hour mark and Asensio slotted home. And they scored another spot-kick as Paco Candela fouled Theo Hernandez to pick up a second yellow and allow Vazquez to add a second.
Real debutant Jesus Vallejo was shown a straight red card two minutes from time for a wild late challenge in the only real sour note. Zidane takes his side to face La Liga rivals Girona on Sunday before a trip to face Tottenham st Wembley.
Spurs earned a creditable 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu and will look to build on that performance at their temporary home.
